A Kiwi In The Dales
Painting Depiction
Spitfire X4276, KL-B, the subject of this painting, was flown by Alan Deere in late 1940, during a rest period following the Battle of Britain, training new pilots based at Catterick, Yorkshire. It is very unlikely that it carried the famous Kiwi artwork, as Deere stopped adding the artwork to his aircraft after Kiwi III.
This aircraft was later involved in a mid-air collision with a trainee pilot flying another Spitfire (X4650)
